Almyrida, a small tourist resort by the sea  is located east of  Chania just after crossing  Kalyves and has a lovely sandy beach, popular for windsurfing and catamaran sailing. There are plenty of family run taverns serving fresh fish all along the seafront, a small archaeological site and it is a good walking area.
