Kavros
The Kavros is located between Georgioupolis and the small village of Petres, which is about 10 kilometers eastern. Located in the northern part of the island. The whole area here has a long, sandy beach (sometimes with a few pebbles). In the area of Kavros there are some facilities (souvenir shops, restaurants and hotels), but it is very quiet. You can find shade under the trees that surround the beach.
Kournas Lake
In a short distance from Kavros lies Kournas. Kournas is known for its lake located in the area. The individual colors of the lake from green to turquoise and blue, and the beautiful scenery formed by the surrounding mountains and alos the variety in flora and fauna is something that you will enjoy visiting the area. Lake Kournas has a diameter of about 1.5 km and depth of 45 meters.
On the lake guests can swim while in the vicinity there are several souvenir shops as well as many taverns serving traditional Cretan food and the famous sfakian cheese pies.
